La Roland V-Accordion è uno strumento completamente nuovo, non paragonabile alle fisarmoniche MIDI fino ad oggi disponibili. Infatti la generazione sonora della V-Accordion non avviene con la semplice riproduzione di \"samples\" o il controllo di un modulo \"sample playback\" esterno tramite MIDI, ma attraverso una sofisticata tecnologia di creazione del suono per modelli fisici non dissimile da quella utilizzata per le batterie V-Drums o il sistema di Virtual Guitar VG-88. Grazie alle sue capacità la V-Accordion non solo può sostituire una fisarmonica tradizionale, ma consente di avere nello stesso strumento vari tipi di fisarmoniche con caratteristiche alquanto diverse.
Potendo simulare il suono (ed il comportamento) di una \"musette\" o di un \"bandoneon\" è in grado di trasformarsi in uno strumento completamente diverso al semplice tocco di un pulsante. Inoltre consente l\'esecuzione con \"bassi sciolti\" tipica delle fisarmoniche \"classiche\" e mette a disposizione la modalità \"cassotto\" e \"sordina\" presenti solo su fisarmoniche molto pregiate. Il modello FR-7 rispetto all\' FR-5 ha l\'amplificazione incorporata. Entrambi i modelli sono disponibili nella versione a pianoforte o a bottoni.
